Doctor of Ministry Applicants
Welcome to the McCormick Doctor of Ministry Program
I hope you’ll take a look around. Open doors. Pose hard questions. Imagine yourself in this program. And finally ask yourself: is this a place that can refresh, retool, and revitalize my call and my ministry, and those with whom I minister?
We hope so. That’s the goal of the McCormick Doctor of Ministry program…to refresh, retool, and revitalize ministry through challenging study, engaging conversation, targeted research, and imagination. And not just any ministry, or some ideal, theoretical ministry - your ministry!
The McCormick D.Min. program builds on a key core of subjects—leadership, church and culture, Bible, and group dynamics—applying learnings from each to classroom discussion and to your local ministry. There are elective classes, allowing you to select challenging subjects most applicable to your ministry. And there is a thesis project of your choosing—a journey into the passion of your work and your call. If your focus is specifically preaching, you may want to consider the ACTS D.Min. in Preaching program, in which McCormick is a key partner—one of the most highly regarded advanced-degree programs in preaching anywhere in the world. A third program, the Ecumenical D.Min., another McCormick partnership, draws scholars from around the world in full-time study.
All three programs reflect the unique values of a McCormick education—one that is at once Reformed, ecumenical, cross-cultural, and urban. McCormick D.Min. students each bring their unique ministry settings and challenges from a host of countries, denominations, and practices, and find in their study common issues and common ground that send them home renewed.
Allow these pages to introduce the program more fully to you. Then introduce yourself to us. Together, let’s see if the McCormick D.Min. is right for you. We look forward to the conversation.
